Laser hair removal technology does away with the old fashioned way of removing hair. No more tedious shaving, tweezing, creams and waxing with their fleeting results. No more slow and painful electrolysis. Now you can obtain long-lasting results with Intense Pulse Light (IPL) to destroy hair follicles.
The IPL procedure is extra gentle with virtually no side effects. This system offers effective results while maintaining a normal skin appearance. The latest technology offers results for almost all skin types and colors. Unlike electrolysis, the IPL quickly treats larger areas of the body. It is safe and gentle, causing no irritation, discoloration or inflammation associated with other lasers or hair removal methods.
During the laser hair removal procedure, highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the regrowth potential of the hair follicle, but does not damage the surrounding tissue. Any hair with at least some pigment (black, brown, red and some blond) can be treated effectively. IPL is the first photoepilation procedure proven to effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including dark-skinned individuals.
Most patients experience a stinging feeling. To reduce this discomfort, a cooling system removes heat from the surface or your skin. A topical anesthetic cream may be applied to sensitive areas.
The number of laser hair removal treatments required varies with hair density, hair color, skin types and treatment area. Intense Pulse Light treatments impair hair follicle growth, when they are in their growth cycle at the time of the treatment. All hair follicles are not active at the same time. Depending upon the cycle of the follicles at the time of treatment, several treatments may be required to obtain the desired effect.
Side effects from the laser hair removal procedure are rare. You may experience some slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within hours. On very rare occasions, some blistering or bruising may occur, but typically resolves quickly. Also, the skin can become darker or lighter following treatment but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. Limiting sun exposure is mandatory before and after each treatment to minimize the risk of complications.
