On the section understanding the nose, we
explained what the tip and supra-tip are. Now let’s see what effect changing the
supra-tip has on the overall appearance of the nose.
The red arrow points to the tip, and the blue arrow to the supra-tip.
Cosmetically, it is important that the supra-tip never be higher than the tip, because
it will give the illusion of a droopy tip when one is not present.
 
 The picture on the
left shows how the nose on this woman appears droopy when in reality it is not. Let’s
analyze her nose more closely by looking at the picture on the right. We know that her
tip has enough rotation, her tip points upward as we see from the red arrow. So why does
she appear to have a droopy nose? Because the supra-tip (black arrow) is higher than
the tip (blue arrow). By the supra-tip being higher than the tip and creating a “bump”,
it appears that the tip of the nose droops.
To fix this problem we need to lower the level of the supra-tip, not rotate more the
nose. In this picture the red line shows how the supra-tip forms a fullness or bump by
its position. The blue line shows where it should be. In other words the supra-tip should
be at the same level or below with the tip.
