Is This the Year You Get Plastic Surgery?

Each year thousands of men and women make the decision to have plastic surgery. The number of procedures performed by plastic surgeons continues to climb, as more people are taking charge of their appearance and want to look and feel their best personally and professionally.

But still, many others who want to improve their appearance hold off on a procedure that could change their lives. In the meantime, they may be unhappy with their looks – but they continue to wait.

If this is you, and you’re not sure if you’re ready to have plastic surgery, here’s how you can make a decision that’s right for you:

A Board Certified Surgeon is Key

If you’re going to have plastic surgery, using a board certified surgeon is a must. It means he or she graduated from an accredited medical school and received years of training exclusively in plastic surgery. In addition, he or she will only perform your surgery at a licensed, accredited medical facility. This adds up to maximum safety for you, as well as the best possible outcome.

When you talk with a potential surgeon, ask questions and take notes if needed. You should get your concerns addressed and leave without feeling pressure to book the surgery before you’re ready.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Ask to see before and after photos of the surgeon’s patients. Just as you would ask to see the work of an interior designer or a painter, so should you see the work of your surgeon. If the surgeon is experienced in the procedure you want, he should have plenty of beautiful photos to show you.

Plastic surgeons may specialize in a wide variety of procedures or areas of the body. Some do mainly body procedures, but only occasionally do a facial surgery. This is not the way to go if you want the most natural, beautiful results. Your face is undoubtedly your most important feature. Trust it to a surgeon who is skilled in enhancing and beautifying the face – and only the face.

Financing and Cost

Don’t be afraid to talk finances with your surgeon. Cost is often an important factor for people to consider when they have plastic surgery. Your surgeon should give you a straightforward cost estimate and should have financing options available. Don’t let cost alone be the reason you hold off on a procedure you really want.

A decision to have plastic surgery should not be taken lightly, and you need to research your surgeon and discuss your expectations and wishes in detail. Once you have the correct information, you can make an informed, confident decision and take that step to a more beautiful you.
