When excess fat accumulates there, it can create a double chin, making a person’s face look older and heavier. This feature can negatively impact your self-esteem, confidence, and overall wellbeing. The KYBELLA® Process
If you’re interested in slimming your chin with KYBELLA® injections, the first thing you need to do is schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Siegel. During this meeting, he will examine your chin, go over your cosmetic concerns, answer any questions you may have, and design a customized treatment plan for you. He may also create a three-dimensional KYBELLA® “Before and After” image to show you the expected results. There is no set time for this consultation – Dr. Siegel will meet with you for as long as you need to feel informed and ready to move forward in this process.
Since each patient and each KYBELLA® procedure is unique, Dr. Siegel will give you individualized instructions to follow leading up to your appointment. While these may vary, we typically recommend that you avoid taking certain medications that could interfere with the treatment and stay properly hydrated. On the day of your procedure, we ask that you please thoroughly cleanse your face and neck before coming in.
The KYBELLA® treatment process is relatively simple, swift, and easy since it requires no incisions. Dr. Siegel may use a topical anesthetic to numb your chin area before beginning with your injections. He will also tailor the placement and volume of each injection according to your specific needs and preferences. Most KYBELLA® injection appointments take just about 15 minutes, but the length may be shorter or longer depending on your circumstances and goals.
Most patients are able to return to work immediately following their injections. More than 20 clinical studies have confirmed KYBELLA®’s safety and effectiveness. After your chin treatment with KYBELLA®, you may experience some mild pain, redness, swelling, numbness, hardness, or bruising around the site of the injections. You may use ice and analgesics (painkillers) to minimize any discomfort from the injections. Typically, you will schedule your next round of KYBELLA® injections approximately one month after your previous treatment. The number of treatment visits you require will depend on your personal cosmetic and medical factors, but most patients achieve their desired results within two to six appointments.
Can KYBELLA® be used for jowls?
KYBELLA® injections can be used to diminish the appearance of jowls when there is both excess skin and fat accumulating around the jawline. Because it works by destroying fat cells, if your jowls are purely the result of sagging skin and not excess fat, a treatment such as a neck lift or another cosmetic surgery procedure may be more appropriate for you. Dr. Siegel will establish which techniques are likely to be safe and successful for you at your first appointment. He will determine the best way to give you the lean, youthful face and neck you want.
Who is a candidate for KYBELLA®?
Most patients can benefit from the results of KYBELLA® treatment. You may be eligible for this non-surgical procedure if:
- You are over 18 years old.
- You are looking for a solution to remove your double chin.
- You do not currently have an infection.
- You are not pregnant.
- Your chin is not scarred.
- You do not have excess chin skin. This may require surgical treatment to remove.
- You follow a healthy lifestyle, complete with exercise and balanced nutrition, but your double chin still won’t go away. (If you want to lose weight, it’s important that you do so before having KYBELLA® injections. Weight fluctuations could interfere with your results.)
- You’re looking for a minimally invasive option to improve your chin’s appearance and your overall facial structure.
While these are general guidelines for candidacy, each person is different. Dr. Siegel will help you decide if you are properly qualified for KYBELLA® at your initial consultation.

Not all injectors have the same credentials, experience or artistry, and while this is not a surgical procedure, it is still a medical procedure, and the results depend on these qualities of your injector, not the filler being injected.
The majority of injectors, not only be not be highly skilled facial specialist, but may have very limited experience performing this procedures or may be doing them on a part time basis. It requires not only an eye for balance, but also years to achieve the mastery of injection skills-this will make the difference between a natural and more youthful appearance, as opposed to the overly filled and in-natural look associated with poorly executed injections.
