Reverse and Rejuvenate
Rejuvenate yourself with non-surgical skin tightening or a custom skin resurfacing solution, and reverse years of sun damage, wrinkles, acne and age spots. Dr. Siegel can analyze your skin to determine which method—dermabrasion (scraping layers away); chemical skin tightening; laser skin tightening (laser resurfacing); etc.—is best-suited to your skin type, and will meet your expectations for a rejuvenated, refreshed appearance.
How does it work?
Resurfacing and skin tightening remove old skin and signal your body to make new skin. These procedures discard the superficial skin layer (the epidermis), and penetrate to the deep skin layer (the dermis). The dermis is made of collagen, long fibers that loosen and stretch with age and sun damage. By penetrating the dermis, new collagen is formed to give your skin a more elastic and younger appearance. Then, as you heal, a new epidermis (top layer) forms, restoring a more youthful you.
Your recovery from these methods will depend on the depth of penetration in the dermis. Superficial chemical skin tightening that only removes the top layers of skin usually heals in about one week. Deeper tightening agents—such as laser resurfacing—provide more dramatic and longer-lasting results. But, because of their deeper skin penetration, these solutions take several weeks to heal.
Dr. Siegel can help you select the skin tightening option that will best match your individual skin type and condition. During your personal consultation, he will talk to you about:
- Your expectations for the procedure and what can realistically be achieved
- Whether skin tightening is the best solution for your concerns
- How your skin color and type, ethnic background, age, medical history and overall health will affect your results
Building Up Collagen
For people not ready for a facelift, a skin tightening procedure may be the best option to re-firm skin. It can improve on slight droopiness that begins to be noticed in the mid thirties. There are many skin tightening rejuvenation treatment options, but at the core of all these, the common goal is to firm and build up collagen.
There are various ways to firm skin, with and without lasers:
Skin Tightening without Lasers:
- Radiofrequency (Pelleve®)
- Ultrasound (Ulthera®)
- Pulse Dye (Harmony®)
Skin Tightening with Lasers:
- Erbium and CO2
- Fractional Erbium (Fraxel®)
- Fractional CO2 (UltraPulse®)
Dr. Siegel Recommends Fractional (FX) Lasers
Fractional Erbium (Fraxel®) and Fractional CO2 (UltraPulse®) are a new generation of lasers that treat only a “fraction” of skin tissue. Micro-laser beams stimulate collagen, and the skin tissue in-between these columns remains undisturbed, allowing for a much faster recovery time.
The Best Skin Tightening
While the Erbium Fractional laser is less invasive, Dr. Siegel has found it does not produce enough skin tightening. The FXCO2 does, and just like non-laser technologies, several treatments are required, which even when added, will not achieve the same results as single FX CO2 treatment. Dr. Siegel finds better results when the skin tightening procedure is performed as ActiveFX™, or DeepFX™.
ActiveFX™ and DeepFX™
ActiveFX™ smoothes out lines, wrinkles, pores, and skin irregularities of the outer skin surface. DeepFX™ is preferred for deeper wrinkles, chronic sun damage, and scars. Both stimulate collagen formation over time, resulting in increased skin tightness, tone, and texture. Treatments are tailored to each individual patient, and because of the fractional technology, healing time can be limited to just a few days.
Cost of Skin Tightening
Like any other cosmetic procedure, the cost of skin tightening will vary with expertise, and in this case technology. Not all fractional CO2 devices are the equal. Dr Siegel uses Lumenis®, the worldwide leader in aesthetic lasers, and the developers of CO2 lasers for aesthetic medicine. Their Ultrapulse® CO2, coupled with Dr Siegel’s experience and expertise, allows him to deliver the highest performance and precision at the swiftest speed.
Average skin tightening rejuvenation treatments may range from $1000.00-$3000.00 nationwide. While non-laser treatments may appear to be less expensive at the onset, from a cost stand point, multiple treatments are required and usually add up to being even more expensive than FX lasers. From a clinical perspective, these modes of therapy, even after multiple sessions, do not produce the same results as a single FX CO2 session.
Laser tightening procedures can be combined with other non-surgical rejuvenation options, such as Botox Cosmetic® and/or Fillers, when desired.
