Liposuction Overview

The goal of neck liposuction, or neck contouring, is to create a firmer, smoother, more youthful-looking neck and chin. A neck lipo procedure can also help restore balance to facial features by providing a better-defined jawline that frames the rest of the face.

This plastic surgery treatment is a simple, safe, cost-effective way to treat surplus fat and vertical folds. Even without making any other changes to the face, improving a wrinkled or sagging neck can dramatically improve your appearance, helping you look years younger or as though you’ve lost weight. Houston neck liposuction specialist Dr. Michel Siegel is the best choice to assist you with this procedure so you can enjoy a natural, rejuvenated look.

Face and neck liposuction are popular cosmetic surgical procedures that provide rapid, yet satisfying results. Excess fat in the chin and neck areas can often give an individual a ‘double chin’ or the appearance of being overweight. Liposuction removes excess fat from underneath the chin, neck and jowls, accentuating the jawline and creating a more youthful and attractive appearance. Dr. Michel Siegel is an experienced and qualified Houston-area facial liposuction plastic surgeon. Dr. Siegel uses liposuction to help his patients achieve a sleeker, more defined face and neck while maintaining a natural look.

Since each neck liposuction procedure is different, your pre- and post-operative instructions will depend on your particular circumstances. Dr. Siegel and our team will give you detailed, personalized instructions spanning from the week before your neck liposuction in Houston, all the way through the end of your recovery. For example, you will most likely need to avoid taking certain medications that could interfere with anesthesia before your procedure and should drink plenty of water to help you heal after your neck lipo.

On the day of your neck liposuction, you’ll come to our Houston cosmetic surgery office. Neck liposuction typically requires just local anesthesia, bypassing the prolonged recovery period associated with general anesthesia. The length of time it takes to complete your neck procedure will vary based on your unique situation and the techniques Dr. Siegel believes will be the most beneficial, but these surgeries usually last under 45 minutes.

Most of our patients find that neck liposuction recovery is much quicker and easier than they had expected. Dr. Siegel is highly skilled and experienced because he works exclusively in facial plastic surgery and is typically able to minimize inflammation and bruising. The recovery process often takes less than a week. Most of our patients are back to work with minimal or no signs of surgery in 48 hrs.

Facial and Neck Liposuction FAQ's

Despite dieting, exercise and significant weight loss, stubborn fat deposits may remain in your face and neck. Liposuction removes areas of fat that can be difficult to eliminate through lifestyle changes alone. Depending on your unique situation, liposuction may be performed alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic facial enhancement procedures.

When properly maintained, the effects of neck liposuction can last for many years. Of course, if you gain weight following your procedure, this can lead to a new build-up of excess fat deposits in your neck region, interfering with your results. In addition, your neck skin continues to age, which could cause it to begin sagging or wrinkling again over time. You can help preserve the effects of your neck liposuction by living a healthy lifestyle, taking good care of your skin, and seeing Dr. Siegel for follow-up appointments as needed. We can give you more detailed information about how long you can expect your neck liposuction to last and what you can do to extend its effects at your first appointment.

Neck liposuction may help somewhat with snoring or other sleep issues by lightening the burden on your neck while you are resting. However, in most cases, snoring and conditions like sleep apnea are caused by other factors, such as the structure of your airways or neurological issues. While it may provide some benefit, neck liposuction is not a treatment for snoring or sleep issues. Dr. Siegel can further discuss how your neck slimming surgery may affect other aspects of your wellbeing at your consultation.

  • Independent Facial Liposuction: Facial liposuction is performed as a standalone procedure. In general, results are better in younger patients with good skin elasticity.
  • Facial Liposuction and Facelift or Neck lift: Patients who want to enhance a blunted jaw or neckline may combine facial liposuction with a facelift or neck lift procedure to achieve more dramatic results.
  • Facial Liposuction and Chin Implant: Patients with a weak chin may require a chin implant to better balance their facial proportions. Facial liposuction combined with a chin implant can produce very impressive results.
  • Facial Liposuction and Fractional Laser: While liposuction reduces the amount of fat under the skin, the skin itself, may require tightening or wrinkle reduction. Fractional laser is recommended to rejuvenate skin texture or elasticity.
