Bifid Tip Surgery
Premier Houston Rhinoplasty Surgeon Dr. Michel Siegel
The shape of the nasal tip is determined by the cartilage in it. Though cartilage is unique from person to person, everyone’s nasal tip cartilage has a left side and a right side, and the two sides meet at the center. But during the development of one’s nose, sometimes that fusion does not occur completely and a gap or “cleft” will show, resulting in a condition known as a “bifid tip.”
How does surgery correct a bifid tip in your nose?
The space between the two pieces cartilages can be reduced by bringing them closer together or by adding extra tissue to camouflage any gaps.
Bifid tip correction is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty surgery to make other desired changes to the nose, like correcting a bulbous tip, reducing a hump, or making other specific adjustments a patient may want.
If you think part of your new-and-improved look involves a smoother bifid tip, contact Dr. Siegel in Houston.
