Facelift Surgery for Men in Houston
Too few men even think to get a facelift. Those who don’t want a weathered look tend to be resigned to one. Many men associate facelifts with women, or think a facelift can’t help them, or like the idea of a facelift but can’t find a nearby facelift surgeon who’s known to get good results for men.
But the number of men opting for facial plastic surgery is on the rise, according to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). More men are taking a new look at how their looks can have a substantial effect on how one feels, his career prospects, and his romantic life. Those reasons and more are why interest in facial plastic surgery among men has risen so sharply in the past decade or so.
Houston’s Dr. Michel Siegel specializes in facial surgery, and is renowned for the results of his facelifts, many of which are for men. Contact Dr. Siegel’s office in Houston today for your consultation on your goals, or read on to find out more about the male facelift.
A neck lift to enhance the jawline
One of the most common facial surgeries performed in men is the mini neck lift.
Excess fat deposits can show up in men of all ages – whether those are inherited, from aging, from a loosening of the neck muscles, or from gaining weight. That excess slack on the neck can create an undesirable, or “weak”-looking contour or the neck, often known as “turkey neck.” This area can be sculpted to produce a smoother, chiseled neck and jawline that projects more power and is more attractive.
Dr Siegel’s approach to neck lifting involves lifting or re-suspending the deeper muscles, which creates more-natural looks and produces longer-lasting results (as compared to more superficial procedures that involve more “pulling”).
The chin lift
Men with a “weak” or underemphasized chin may be good candidates for combining a mini neck lift with a chin implant.
Older patients or those with significant extra loose skin may opt for a mini facelift combined with neck lift.
Male facelift vs. female facelift
Male facial plastic surgery must be performed differently from that done for female patients. Men’s tissues are different from women. Also, in most cases a classic natural- appearance must be maintained or enhanced, according to the patient’s unique goals.
Men often can be as sensitive about “turkey neck” as women can be, but do not want a face-lift. This procedure has a longer recovery time and requires more surgery. The type of mini facelift needed to tighten and “crisp” the jawline and neck depends on the degree of loosening, and on the patient’s genetic factors and the way he ages. That is why a personal evaluation by Dr. Siegel is needed first, so as to understand a patient’s unique looks, situation, and goals.
